Social media was on Thursday awash with reports that Baringo senator Gideon Moi had visited his perceived rival at Deputy President William Ruto at his official Karen residence.
The reports emerged as photos of Gideon with Ruto’s personal assistant Emmanual Tallam also surfaced online.
In the photo, Gideon is seen having a tête-à-tête, in the background other leaders are seen also speaking in a group. Ruto’s political dagger Farouk Kibet stands out in the group.
Considering the supremacy war between the two Rift Valley leaders, the news became a piece of juicy content and spread quickly on the interwebs.
However, efforts by this writer have established that no such meeting took place.
Lex Ander, one of Retired President Daniel Moi’s press men, said no such meeting had taken place.
He dismissed the social media posts as ‘propaganda by a wing of the political divide desperate to hoodwink Kenyans’
“The social media has been awash with photos purporting to be of Hon. Senator Gideon Moi at a certain Karen home where individuals whose stand on things are as firm as a flag on a windy day. The information is not true but propaganda by a wing of the political divide desperate to hoodwink Kenyans. Hon. Senator Gideon is at home in Kabarak since yesterday spending ample, quality time with H.E Mzee while receiving visitors,” Ander said.
