With the support of Garissa Township MP Aden Duale, Korane downed his predecessor by a very big margin.

However, his popularity in the county is steadily fading out thanks to three controversial issues threatening to send him into oblivion. These include;

1. The shooting of Idriss Mukhtar

Korane, together with his blood brother, were adversely mentioned in the shooting of former Finance minister Idriss Aden Mukhtar.

The incident which happened in Nairobi saw the governor picked up by DCI detectives.

In a county where negotiated politics take centre stage, it is a fact that Korane will have a hard task seeking re-election unless the matter is conclusively sorted out.

2. Nepotism

Korane has recently been singled out by the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) for allegedly fronting close relatives and allies in political appointments at the county.

Sadly, the appointments were said to favour those without requisite professional competence. This issue alone compelled Duale to invite the EACC to probe the allegations.

3. Unfulfilled promises

Immediately he assumed office, Korane assured his residents that he would personally engage them every Thursdays in his office. This was not to be.

A section of the residents is now accusing him of being unreachable even in times of need.

Therefore, if Governor Korane still holds the dream of serving Garissa residents for another term, then he should purpose to amicably resolve the three issues ahead of time.
