Annan, the 2001 Nobel peace laureate, died on August 18 aged 0.

He will be buried in Accra’s new military cemetery on September 13.

President Uhuru has sent Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka to represent him at the function.

The Speaker said he will lead a powerful delegation of government which is expected to leave the country today, Tuesday, September 11.

President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto have not been in ‘very good books’ with Annan after the 2007 post poll chaos.

Annan reportedly sought to block the duo from running in the 2013 elections.

In a briefing with the French Foreign ministry officials on the situation in Kenya prior to the March 2013 elections, Annan urged the French ministry to pass the message that those who were implicated in the 2007 skirmishes would be arrested and taken to the Hague.

This was meant to send panic to Uhuru and Ruto as they were among the Ocampo six, a report in a local paper said.
