Prof. Kamar holds a BSc. Hon. Agriculture in Soil and Water Conservation, a Med Soil Science from McGill University and a PhD in Soil and Water Conservation from the Faculty of Forestry and Conservation of the University of Toronto.

Having been on big political platforms before, she is the kind of a leader the people of Uasin Gishu can bank on to effectively represent them and articulate their issues properly.

Prof. Kamar was a lecturer at Moi University for 21 years and has worked in various high profile organizations including The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the East African Legislative Assembly, African, Caribbean and Pacific and European Union Joint Parliamentary Assembly (ACP-EU JPA).

This puts her in an appropriate position to equally and credibly implement the relevant development agenda. She has the ability to smell what is right for the people and holds a good political ideology that can take Uasin Gishu County to another level if well implemented.

Besides, her political strategies are in line with the government’s Big Four Agenda and she has a great passion for devolution. So far, she is one of the most vocal senators during senatorial proceedings.

Prof. Kamar once served as the Assistant Minister for Environment and Mineral Resources from 2010 to 2011 and Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology from 2011 to 2013.

Her transparency and accountability skills while at the university are key to her political success.

People of Uasin Gishu should rely on her to always put the county leaders on the spot check.

Prof. Kamar, together with Isiolo’s Dullo Fatuma Adan and Nakuru’s Susan Kihika are the only elected women senators.

The people of Uasin Gishu County are privileged to have such a leader.
