There was drama on Friday evening at Nyabao village in West Mugirango, Nyamira County after a newly-married couple fought in public over claims of promiscuity.
The couple, Isaiah Mekenye and Sarah Moraa got married just seven days ago.
However, a week later into their marriage, Moraa has accused her husband of adultery, something that caused a scene in public.
Henry Oyondi a resident well-known to the two said "Mekenye and Moraa held their wedding 7 days ago. Moraa found love messages in Mekenye's mobile phone and upon questioning him, he started beating his wife accusing her of becoming a nuisance," he said .
Oyondi said it took the intervention of Nyumba Kumi officials to stop the man from beating the wife.
Area Nyumba Kumi official Frank Nyamote said Moraa was angered when she found love messages another woman sent her husband.
"It is sad the couple wedded a few days ago but, they have started fighting. We stopped the man from beating the wife and urged them to respect each other and be strong when they face challenges in their marriage," the Nyumba Kumi official opined.
John Machoni, an elder in the area said the couple will have to meet their pastor for guidance and counseling.
"We advised the couple to visit their pastor to guide them on how they should live in marriage. Unnecessary fights will not help in ending marital differences," noted the couple.
