In what might be interpreted as a big blow to DP Ruto's political prospects, Majority Leader Aden Duale has finally revealed that there is no direct endorsement in the jostling for the Jubilee Party 2022 presidential ticket.
Speaking in a Thursday morning interview with Capital FM, the Garissa Township legislator stated that the party's flag-bearer will not receive a direct endorsement stating that all aspirants would be subjected to nominations.
Duale further clarified that the ongoing 2022 succession debates by a section of Jubilee lawmakers would not interfere with the Jubilee's plans for 2022.
“Ruto who is eyeing the president has insisted he does not want any endorsement from anyone and as a party I want to assure our members that we will have a free and fair nomination of all the party officials and whoever will clinch the presidential ticket will be fully backed by the party,” Duale told Capital FM.
Duale's sentiments come at a time when a section of legislators and elders from the North Rift claim that the Mt Kenya region should support the Deputy President 'as agreed' prior to the 2013 presidential elections.
