The leaders who include, the then Nominated Senator Fatuma Dhullo, Isiolo Governor Godana Doyo and Nairobi County Assembly Minority Leader Abdi Guyo, in March 2016, said Mr Duale should contest for the seat.

The leaders said that Garissa Township MP should take advantage of the huge pastoralist communities numbers and contest for the top seat adding that he could easily get more than 10 million votes from the Muslims.

Mr Doyo said the vocal legislator, who is a strong defender of the Jubilee administration, is one of the senior most politicians in the Jubilee party.

The leaders said Mr Duale was the most suitable candidate to take over from President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto if he wins in 2022 and 2027.

“Duale has fully championed for interests of pastoralists and he should be elected President when the time comes,” said Ms Dhullo.

However, Mr Duale in response said the pastoralists were fully behind URP and TNA and he will not contest for the top seat.

The Garissa MP said his endorsement could be seen as plans to scuttle formation of new outfit spearheaded by the Pastoralist Leadership Forum.
