Until recently, Migori Woman Representative Pamela Awuor Ochieng was not known to a section of members of the public outside the county.
The Woman Rep has been in the public eye since last week, following the kidnapping of Nation Media Homabay County-based Journalist Barack Oduor and slain student Sharon Beryl Otieno.
She has been among leaders calling for the immediate arrest and prosecution of those linked to the abduction of Oduor and Sharon Otieno and the subsequent murder of the latter.
Pamela Awuor Ochieng was elected on the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party ticket during last year’s general elections. Until then, she was a lecturer – Department of Business Administration at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).
She joined the university’s staff in 2010 as a team leader and coordinator for the French Program. She was a teacher at the Highway Boys High School and State House Girls between 1995 and 1998.
The Woman Representative went to Agongo Primary School and Dede Girls High School.
She holds Bachelor of Arts Education, Master of Business Administration and PhD in Business administration acquired between 1990 and 2017 at JKUAT.
The leader is a member of three Committees in the National Assembly, among them Departmental Committee on Education, Research and Technology.
