Kisii Governor James Ongwae has broken silence on Homa Bay Governor Cyprian Awiti's Thursday win at the Supreme court.
Ongwae who was elected on an ODM ticket congratulated Awiti saying he should now focus on serving the people of Homa Bay.
"I'm happy the Supreme court upheld the election victory of my friend and Homa Bay Governor Cyprian Awiti. I wish to urge him to put more energies in serving the people of Homa Bay," said Ongwae on Friday in Rioma Sub-location, Kisii County.
According to Ongwae, no one influenced the case at the Supreme court as some people have alleged.
"The judges sat and arrived at the decision to uphold Awiti's win. Those claiming that the judgement was influenced by politicians are lying only spreading falsehood to seek political mileage and tarnish the name of ODM party," he added.
He dismissed claims that there is no democracy in the opposition party ODM, arguing it is the will of the people being manifested.
"Awiti's rivals claiming ODM leadership bribed judges to uphold Awiti's victory should know it is not ODM which voted for Awiti but, Homa Bay electorates did. The party had no hand in the election judges. It is justice that was served," said the county boss.
