Mutua said he is not scared of politicians who have so far declared their interests in contesting for the top seat in 2022 polls.

Speaking to journalists when he toured the Machakos Level 5 Hospital on Tuesday, Mutua said he will put in place strategic campaigns that will see him win in the next elections.

The Maendeleo Chap Chap governor, however, said he is now focused on delivering services to Machakos people.

“I am ready and God willing I will be the 5th President of the Republic of Kenya,” Mutua said.

Mutua said he has the qualities to lead the country.

He is among the top politicians alongside former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka and Deputy President William Ruto who are expected to battle out in the race to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.

President Kenyatta is serving his last term in office.

Mutua has maintained that he will be on the presidential ballot and dismissed calls to step down for Kalonzo.

Some Ukambani politicians are piling pressure on him to step down for Kalonzo.

The politicians argue that Mutua is not popular and should instead support Kalonzo’s 2022 presidential bid.
