Embattled Citizen TV anchor Jackie Maribe has reportedly snubbed the police by avoiding their calls, reports the Standard.
Maribe is being sought to record another statement in connection with the death of Monica Kimani, a 29-year-old woman who died last week at Kilimani under controversial circumstances.
Her fiance, Joseph Irungu, is under police custody after two witnesses positively identified him as the person who visited Ms. Kimani's house during the fateful day, hours after which the lady was found dead.
Also, detectives traced Mr. Irungu's phone at the crime scene and is said to have been driving a Toyota Allion, registered under Maribe's name.
But efforts to reach the celebrated anchor were futile as calls from homicide detectives went unanswered.
“She is not responding to our calls but we have left a message for her, requiring her to come for further clarification. Even her lawyer says she is not responding to calls,” said an officer.
Accounts given by Maribe and her fiance contradicted those of their neighbours who insisted that no shooting was witnessed in their Lang'ata apartment.
Mr. Irungu, who has since denied the allegations, claims that the wound on his chest was as a result of an attack by unknown gunmen.
Mr. Cliff Ombeta, who is representing Ms. Maribe, could not give details about the whereabouts of his client.
"She called and asked us to represent her. That's all I can say," he said.
Preliminary investigations shows that Maribe's fiance had a personal relationship with the deceased and that they were once classmates at Kenya Polytechnic.
