Kuria who spoke on Saturday at Bishop Gatimu Ngandu Girls High School in Mathira constituency in Nyeri said Maraga's inactivity in directing Judges to make supportive rulings that directly affect revenue collection is the main reason why Parliament's Budget Committee decided to cut the Judiciary's budget.

"You are reaping from what where you sowed in the Judiciary," the outspoken MP who is a close associate of President Uhuru Kenyatta told journalists.

He cited three cases where courts suspended the rolling out of the excise duty as contained in the Finance Bill, 2018.

He said the Judiciary cannot gag the collection of taxes and at the same time demand that it be allocated more money.

Maraga last week while speaking in Nairobi complained that the Judiciary may not be able to implement its activities following a cut in its 2018/2019 Financial Year budget.

Parliament's Budget Committee, it is reported, has cut Judiciary's budget from the proposed Sh31.2 billion to 17.3 billion.

Maraga said the budget cut may directly affect the dispensation of justice in the country. Kenya is already grappling with a high case backlog.
