The committee is probing claims that the vocal lawmaker allegedly gave out between Sh20, 000 and Sh30, 000 to some MPs to reject the report.

On Tuesday, the committee chaired by National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi visited female MPs toilets at Parliament Buildings where the alleged bribery is said to have taken place.

The committee took over 10 minutes assessing the ladies lavatories and trying to corroborate the allegations given out by some members.

Several MPs have alleged that Gedi’s voice was allegedly heard from toilets pleading with some MPs to take the alleged bribery and vote against the sugar report.

Kiambu Women Representative Gathoni Wa Muchomba while appearing before the committee last month claimed that the bribery was facilitated in female MPs toilets.

“I heard Gedi’s voice allegedly instructing some members to take the bribery and shoot down the report,” she claimed last month when she appeared before the committee.

Wa Muchomba said that she was passing at the ladies washroom when she heard the voices.

Kiminini MP Didmus Barasa has also made allegations that Gedi facilitated the bribery.

Barasa told the committee that he was given Sh 10,000 bribery by Gedi but declined to take it. Gedi has since denied facilitating the alleged bribery.

The Wajir MP says that she only lobbied her colleagues to reject the sugar report and at no point did she every give any bribery.

The MPsays that dragging her name to the bribery allegations are out to taint her character.

Garissa Township Aden Duale is among MPs who are expected to appear before the committee in regards to the bribery probe.

A section of MPs allegedly accused Duale of lobbying MPs to reject the report.

Duale has however denied knowledge of any bribery to shoot down the report.

The report was shot down two months ago on grounds of being shoddy.
