Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura has accused Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu of deceit following his interview on Citizen TV's JKL show on Wednesday, last week.
In a post on his official Facebook page, Mwaura questioned Waititu's development record, alleging that some of the projects the governor took credit for were initiated by his predecessor William Kabogo.
"Waititu is lying on #JKL without flinching. Which roads have been improved in Mwihoko? The Gicheha farm road was negotiated long ago, not now. Githunguri town was done under Kabogo by the Nairobi metropolitan project including Ruiru town," read part of Mwaura's post.
The vocal MP further questioned why Waititu had claimed that municipal boards had not been meeting due to lack of allowances yet the procurement process was yet to be done.
Mwaura also put Waititu on the spot to explain why he had earlier indicated that the Githurai Market will be constructed at a cost of Sh2.7 billion, only to state during the interview that the project would cost Sh500 million.
"You said that you were to build the Githurai market at Sh2.7 billion starting on November 15, last year, now it's at a cost of Sh500 million and soon," he added.
The senator further accused Waititu of lying about the sacking of Gatundu MP Moses Kuria's brother, John Ngigi, who was recently sent on compulsory leave.
He also alleged that the governor was aiding land grabbing in the county, citing the recent case of a piece of land belonging to the Postal Cooperation of Kenya.
"Tell us why the Kassmat building is not demolished like the rest and it had signage written property of Kiambu County Government, which has since been removed. What is happening to land compensation at the Karemenu dam? Why lie to us that Moses Kuria's brother wasn't a chief officer, you sacked him and many of your initial cabinet members have left? What about the increased land grabbing by your cronies with several cases pending in court including with public entities such as post bank?
