The 2022 succession politics across the country is already taking shape as politicians align themselves for top seats.
In Kiambu, politicians are setting up the strategies they will use to get top seats in the much anticipated general election.
Kiambu will be the playing ground for the 2022 presidential election especially in regards to whether the Mt Kenya region will support Deputy President William Ruto or not.
Female politicians in the county have not been left out in the succession politics.
Here are three female Kiambu politicians to watch in 2022.
1. Gathoni Wa Muchomba
She is the Kiambu women representative serving her first term in office.
Wa Muchomba who is a former media personality was elected on a Jubilee party ticket. She is a close ally of President Uhuru Kenyatta and has been vocal on issues facing Kenyans.
She is also a human rights defender and a voice for the marginalised groups.
Political analysts argue that Wa Muchomba will play a key role in the Mt Kenya region succession politics.
There are already speculations that Wa Muchomba could bid for the Kiambu senate seat in 2022.
2. Wanjiku Kibe
She is the Gatundu North MP serving her first term in office.
Kibe, a former media personality was elected on a Jubilee party ticket.
The MP is a close ally of President Uhuru Kenyatta and is described as a cool but tactful politician. Political pundits argue that Kibe will be among top female politicians that will shape Kiambu politics in 2022.
3. Gladys Chania
She is an activist and an anti-drug crusader who has been championing the eradication of drug abuse.
Chania lost her bid for the Kiambu women rep seat in the 2013 and 2017 general elections.
Chania has a huge support base of women and youth and will be a force to reckon with in 2022.
There are speculations that Chania could bid for an MP seat in the 2022 general election.
