Swiss National Bank (SNB) data has revealed the amount of money hidden by Kenyans in Switzerland.
According to the data by the bank, money deposited by Kenyans by end of 2017 stood at Sh96 billion (950 million Swiss Francs). These funds include deposits and fiduciary
The data further indicates that the money rose by 4.3 percent from Ksh 92.4 billion (911 million Swiss Francs) in 2016
The increase was experienced even as pressure against financial secrecy by Kenyan andSwiss authorities mounted.
In 2007, the deposits hit the record high of Sh172 billion. The availability of the data comes just a week after President Uhuru Kenyatta held talks with his Swiss counterpart Alain Berset.
The two leaders signed a pact that will see the reclamation of funds and properties acquired through graft and stashed abroad.
