Pastor James Maina Ng'ang'a of Nairobi's Neno Evangelism church was on Thursday evening arrested for a fraud case.
Reports indicate that Ng'ang'a was arrested at his home and later taken to Central Police Station where he spent the night.
It is alleged that the preacher conned a businessman over three million shillings.
The controversial preacher was, however, released on a police bond today morning and is expected in court later in the day.
This is the second time the pastor has been arrested over the past one month.
Last month, he was charged for threatening Citizen TV journalist Linus Kaikai, but denied the charges.
He was later released on cash bail of Sh200,000 or a bond of Sh300,000.
In a video clip, Ng'ang'a warned Kaikai to focus on his media job and stop mentioning preachers, adding that the latter would face consequences if he ignored the warning.
"I have prayed for learned people like doctors, nurses.... Shut your (Kaikai) mouth, you have never stepped a foot in my church, how can you say I robbed you, if you do not stop, I can assure you will face the consequences," said Ng'ang'a.
