Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa has seen the darker side of life despite her political success. In the last for years, Jumwa has lost four blood relatives in cruel accidents.
The latest accident was worse because not only did she lose a brother but also she was not able to attend his funeral due to the shock she suffered after learning that her brother had departed.
Jumwa’s brother, Jumaa Karisa, was laid to rest on August 2, in Takaunga village. He died after falling from a storey building in China where he was a professional acrobat.
The same fate befell Jumwa three years ago when she lost three relatives. They were traveling on Boda Boda from Kilifi to Takaunga village when they rammed into a stalled lorry.
Her step-brother aged 23, Hamisi Karisa, 22-year-old cousin Stephen Kazungu and her younger brother aged 25, Rashid Karisa died on the spot.
Jumwa is a single mother after divorcing her husband when he tried to block her political activism.
