Tanzanian swimmers shocked their Kenyan counterparts at the Coast Amateur Swimming Association Invitational gala at the Bandari College pool in Mombasa County by winning a total of 21 medals.
Bluefins swimming school’s Aminaz Kachra stunned many by winning four gold medals over the weekend.
She triumphed in the 50m breaststroke, 100m butterfly, 200m Individual Medley and 100m freestyle events. Another shocker came from a ten-year-old Isaac Mukami who floored Kenyans in the 1500m freestyle competition.
He also picked a silver medal in the 100m butterfly tussle.
Sahal Harunani, a Tanzanian national team swimmer, won a bronze medal in the 100m butterfly piece and a silver medal in the 100m backstroke event.
7-year-old Viva Pujari added another gold for the neighbours in the 50 metres breaststroke category.
Bluefins swimming school swimmers also won other 9 medals. Hassan Harunani and Aliyana Kachra won a bronze each while Yuki Omar and Filbertha Demello backed 2 silver medals each. Additionally, Salman Yasser managed 2 silver medals and one gold.
The Tanzanian swimming school also registered impressive results in the 8-9 age category where they won a gold medal in the 200m freestyle relay.
This result was replicated in the 10-11 years category. The 8-9 participants also won a silver medal in the 200m medley relay.
