They said the money offered to them by NCPB  is a drop in the ocean compared to what millers are offering.

Speaking to the press in Eldoret town on Tuesday led by the Kenya Farmers Association Director Kipkorir Menjo, they said they will keep their maize until NCPB  increases the buying prices.

"We want the government through NCPB to increase the maize buying prices from the current Sh2600 to at least Sh3200. We won't accept nothing less than this," said Menjo.

They, however  hit out at the leaders from the region for abandoning them in time of need.

"We have been demonstrating here demanding better prices for our produce for the last 18 months and no elected leader from the region except Moiben MP SilasTiren, Cherangany's Joshua  Kutuny and Nandi Hills Alfred Keter- who are others representing?" added Misoi Joseph, former Eldoret South MP.

They vowed to show the door all elected leaders who have not shown the interest in helping farmers when they are in need

They called on the government to appoint representatives from NCPB, Kenya seed and Agriculture Finance Cooperation to represent farmers interests.
