President Uhuru Kenyatta has postponed to an unknown date a meeting with Kenyan musicians that was scheduled on Tuesday, 16.

Government spokesperson Eric Kiraithe said that the decision was triggered by the need to have meticulous preparations that would yield constructive discussions.

"To allow for adequate preparations so that the meeting meets the intended purpose and systematically improves the music industry in Kenya, the 16th October meeting has been postponed," he said.

The postponement comes amid speculation that some musicians had been locked out of the meeting.

Part of the agenda of the meeting was the plight of the musicians.

Musicians in the country continue to struggle as their counterparts in neighbouring Tanzania and West Africa excel on the international stage
