Despite snub by virtually all elected leaders across Gusii region, Don Bosco Gichana's return on Friday could be the beginning of paradigm shift in geopolitics.
Buoyed by enthusiastic crowd, the flamboyant businessman touched down in company of three choppers as businesses came into standstill in town.
"I was in jail when my mother died and I have just convened a simple thanksgiving service. Some people think I can to politic. I thank God for this far."
He added: " Those who snubbed are suffering from paranoia. When time for politics will come, we shall let our people know. For now I am uniting Abagusii people for a better future."
And just like that, things may never be the same again across Kisii and Nyamira. To even give him an advantage, majority of his supporters are youths
And in his speech, he noted spirited campaigns among the youths to have him released from Tanzania prison where he spent five years.
"To the youths, the protests which you held, I'll never forget. You remain in my heart and I'll always remain indebted to you."
Even before he declare his next move, Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi and Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka, his former competitor, maybe worried of his next move.
Sources say that Mr. Bosco could team up with Simba Arati, the self proclaimed Gusii spokesperson, for Kisii gubernatorial seat in 2022.
