Mass digital registration is expected to kick off in April despite resistance from a section of Kenyans among them members of parliament who have raised fears about Huduma Number registration.

At Egesa FM on Tuesday, Matiang'i said Assistant Chiefs will be in charge of the exercise and non of them has gone through the medical school to have the knowledge of taking DNA samples.

"I want to be very clear that nobody is collecting DNA samples. The government is using assistant chiefs and five recruits to do that exercise. Let's stop cheating people.

"All they need is your fingerprints and a photo. You're also required to fill some forms for details. The Huduma Number registration will enable you to be served well by government. It will also eradicate impersonation," he said.

Already, civil rights groups have moved to court to stop the exercise, but the powerful minister says it will go on as planned and nobody will stop it.

He said the plan was laid in 2017 and the government set aside Sh7.2 billion for payment of the clerks and procurement of Kits for the exercise.
