The rate at which the number of street children is increasing within Eldoret town is alarming.
The county government of Uasin Gishu led by governor Jackson Mandago has tried all means to make the town free from these kids without any success.
At one point, the street children who had been taken into a children's home after Mandago's interventions were reported to have escaped from the home and went back to their normal street life.
Uasin Gishu county Woman Representative Gladys Boss Shollei paid a visit to the streets of Eldoret town where she had the opportunity to interact with the boys and girls living there.
Shollei shared a meal with the kids and promised to be catering for their lunch henceforth. She also promised to pay school fees for those who are talented and will be joining vocational and training colleges to acquire skills so as to provide for themselves.
"This past weekend together with Beruham Organization (a community-based organization), I met street families from Asis, Jumahaji, Ngatia, California films and blackboard. I will be sponsoring their lunches from today henceforth. Children under 10 will be taken to homes, I also realized some are talented e.g athletes, fashion and design. Those with technical abilities will be taken for vocational training and their school fees fully covered," posted Shollei on her Facebook page.
She also shared several photos of her visit and interaction with the street families.
