Handlers of Deputy President William Ruto and opposition leader Raila Odinga are contemplating whether or not to take part in Don Bosco Gichana's homecoming, which is set to unite thousands of Kenyans from Nyamira and Kisii Counties.
With organisers settling on October 26th, the two leaders, who apparently aided in his release from Arusha prison, have been formally invited to the function.
"We have invited ODM leader Raila Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto to the occasion. They were part of his release process and have stood with him all the time," revealed Frank Mirina.
While Bosco has a soft spot on both Raila and Ruto since he'd worked with them before, his major partner in the planning of the function Simba Arati, a self proclaimed Gusii spokesperson is a close ally of Raila.
Balancing of the event is the major headache since the two leaders are said to be keen to share podium in a region now with at least 1 million voters.
Although Gusii region has traditionally backed Raila, Ruto has recruited young politicians among them Antony Kibagendi, whom he believes will help him deliver.
"Yes, we know Raila has a huge following but that cannot prevent us from changing the perception. I am sure our team will be in Gusii stadium and our opponents are top welcome," said Job Ong'era, a strategist in Ruto's team.
The two leaders shared platform at Nyamira in August during the burial of former Minister Henry Obwocha. Ruto will be in Keroka on Friday for a fund raiser.
And what awaits Bosco is choosing loyalty to Raila or Ruto, even though he insists that he shall use the occasion to bargain with other leaders.
"I am capable of mobilising one million voters and I'll use it to negotiate with other leaders," he said.
