Equity bank, Kisii branch has warmed Kisii resident's hearts this festive season by giving scholarships to 12 candidates who got above 350 marks in 2018 KCPE from across Kisii county, in their programme named 'Wings to Fly'.
The manager of the Equity bank, Kisii Branch Robin Mireri, said on Tuesday that the 12 candidates were selected from more than 400 needy candidates who wrote letters requesting for the scholarships.
"The bank is going to foresee the candidate's studies in the secondary schools and also monitor their performance. They will be also given other educative lessons from the bank." Robin added.
Many needy candidates from the region who passed well have been seeking help from well wishers as their families are unable to raise the fees and necessities they need in their studies in Secondary schools. Some have been salvaged from the stress by some politicians and churches while others are at risk of dropping out of school.
The programme 'Wings to Fly' started 2011 to help the students who do well in Schools but unable to go on with studies specifically the orphans and the needy ones. The program has since then born fruits with many of the sponsored students performing well in their KCSE Exams.
