While making the ruling, city court Chief Magistrate Roselyn Oganyo said the court had proven beyond doubt that Ednah Kemunto Mabuka was guilty of the charges leveled against her.

She said that the prosecution, led by Willy Momanyi, had presented adequate evidence to warrant the detention of the woman.

The woman stole baby Prince Ouko on February 18, 2018, with reports indicating that she committed the act after the baby's dad, Job Nyatiti Ouko, asked her to check on his twins while wheeling the wife to an emergency room.

According to Ouko, he decided to report the incident to the management of the facility, after the woman went missing with Prince.

The identity of the woman was discovered after they examined CCTV footage at the hospital.

The woman shocked her neighbours when she came back home with a baby yet she had a miscarriage.

A good Samaritan from Kawangware tipped the family after the story was aired on Citizen TV.

The father stormed the home of the woman with the area chief and his brother, were shocked to find the woman in the same clothes she was wearing at the hospital.

She was later arrested and taken to court over the matter. On February 27, 2018, she admitted to the offense, but later changed the statement.
