Ladies, do you experience pain during your monthly menstrual cycle?
Majority of women complain of pain whenever they experience their monthly cycle.
Gynaecologist Patricia Essendi says that it is normal to experience these pains but you should immediately seek medical intervention whenever they become severe.
She, however, says that there are remedies that can help you ease the period pains.
Here are five remedies for effective period pain relief:
1. Take a walk
Ms Essendi says that staying active is a good way of easing period pains.
“You can take a walk, stretch out or engage in a light exercise and the pain will just go,” she says.
2. Watch your salt intake
She says that excessive sodium intake makes your body retain water hence creating a discomfort during the menstrual period hence the pain.
“You should reduce on the salt intake during the menstrual cycle as it contributes to the pain associated with periods,” she states.
3. Get a massage
She observes that massage especially around the pelvic area and backbone is good and releases the pressure caused by the cycle hence reducing the pain.
4. See a doctor
She states that you should immediately see a doctor whenever the pain becomes severe.
“We discourage people from taking over the counter medication to treat period cramps.”
