This comes after police shot and injured a university student who on Monday attempted to invade the Nairobi State House while armed with a knife.

Ndolo has stressed on the need for the agencies tasked with the job of securing the premises to take all threats relating to the houses seriously, to tame such incidences going forward.

In a tweet Monday, he said that there is a need for the National Intelligence Service (NIS) and the Presidential Guard to perform a routine de-brief, in case the threats are realised.

According to Ndolo, the threat and its realisation is a demonstration that the two bodies failed in their job in a way.

"Shouldn’t NIS and Presidential Guard perform a routine de-brief PRIOR, if a person threatens on social media to storm the Statehouse Seems there was an unfortunate lapse here but luckily no loss of life," he said.

The invader, Brian Kibet Bera, was shot in the shoulder after refusing to surrender the knife he was brandishing.

The fifth-year Mechanical Engineering student at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) had reportedly been planning the attack for days.

He had threatened that he would attack President Uhuru Kenyatta on his Facebook page.
