Former Starehe MP aspirant Boniface Mwangi has hinted at who opposition leader Raila Odinga may support for the post of President during the 2022 general elections.
Mwangi who lost the August 8th Starehe MP election to Charles Kanyi (Jaguar) says there is a likelihood that Raila might support Deputy President William Ruto for the top seat.
He said Raila's decision to abandon the opposition NASA's Resist Campaign to accept to work with President Uhuru Kenyatta only signifies that the former Langata lawmaker may support Ruto who is Uhuru's deputy.
"People’s President Raila Odinga received a hand-cheque from Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta in order to stop resisting and join his team. Will he accept to say those two famous words 'Ruto Tosha'? Time will tell," the human rights activist said in Nairobi.
Raila met Uhuru at the commander in chief's office at Harambee House on March 9th where they agreed to work together towards uniting a country that came out of the August 8th poll and the October 26th repeat election sharply divided on tribal and regional lines.
Ruto has indicated that he will vie for the presidency in 2022 and is envisaging at succeeding Uhuru.
Raila on the other hand has not publicly said that he has interest in the top seat although Siaya Senator James Orengo recently said the former prime minister will be on the ballot.
Raila and Ruto are presently political rivals despite the two having worked together during the 2007 general elections.
