Kisii County Deputy Governor Joash Maangi has claimed that Deputy President William Ruto's opponents are jealous of him (Ruto).
Maangi said DP Ruto has been traversing the country attending various fund drives but, 'desperate' rivals are not happy.
"Ruto is a national leader who understands the needs of the people of Kenya. He is attending fund drives to help in improving the infrastructure of churches, schools and he has never asked anyone for money. I am asking Ruto's rivals to stop being jealous since they are not funding him to attend fund drive," he stated.
Maangi insisted that Ruto is welcome to Gusii region anytime he feels like to visit the region.
"Those questioning Ruto's numerous visits to Gusii region should keep off because Ruto is a Kenyan and has a right to traverse any part of this country to ensure our people are served," he noted.
The ODM allied Deputy Governor urged local leaders to embrace unity.
"We must not divide our people just because we are supporting different political parties. Local leaders should preach peace, unity and harmony for the well being of our people," he added.
