Police in Homa Bay county are holding a man implicated in the defilement and alleged killing of his daughter.

The man was arrested on Monday morning in Ang'iro village in Rangwe constituency, two days after the body of his daughter was found dumped in a nearby thicket.

The seven year old went missing on Saturday afternoon at their home in Kagola Kokech village, according to Homa Bay County Police Commander Esther Seroney.

The police boss said that the accused is being detained alongside a next door neighbour also accused of possible involvement in the two crimes.

She said that the body was found showing signs of having been strangled, adding that a probe has been launched in s bid to nab and prosecute the perpetrators.

"Her body was found on Sunday morning dumped in a thicket near their home with a rope tired around her neck. We have two suspects in custody and investigations are still on to find the perpetrator of this action," she told the Citizen Digital.

Seroney said that the man has been included into the puzzle as the girl was last seen entering his home where she had gone for a meal.

“He was arrested alongside the father as he had been seen with the minor when she went to take lunch at the home on Saturday,” added Seroney.

The duo is being held at the Rangwe Police Station.
