The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has reiterated its support for the reignited war on corruption.
Speaking in Ugenya constituency on Monday, ODM National Chair John Mbadi said that the party will join hands with the institutions deployed to lead the war.
He said its time the nation dealt with a small group of politicians who are opposed to the war, after allegedly looting public monies meant for development.
In a veiled shot at Deputy President William Ruto, he accused Ruto of leading the team looting the nation, accusing him of using his cronies to attempt to stop the push.
"They have looted this country to the core and now want to use their positions to have their cronies bring bills to fight the agencies fighting corruption.
I want to tell them today, bring it on," he said.
This was apparently in reference to Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro who has since filed a bill seeking to reduce the powers of the Directorates of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and Public Prosecutions (DPP) on graft matters.
The Suba South lawmaker spoke in the company of a delegation of ODM politicians that pitched tent in Siranga, Ukwala, to campaign for ODM candidate for the Ugenya parliamentary by election Chris Karan.
He also revived the referendum debate, saying there is need for the nation to introduce new laws if the nation is to succeed in its war against corruption.
He stressed on the need for more powers to be given to the institutions raised with leading the war, terming it the only way the nation can lock out manipulative entities.
"We need this referendum. Its high time we amended that law to give more powers to the government agencies charged with the responsibility of dealing with corruption without any manipulation," he added.
