Ongeri while speaking at a funeral on Friday at Keera village in Bobasi said he is the oversight officer who won't condone corruption.

"People of Kisii County elected me to ensure the government uses public funds wisely to initiate various projects across the 45 counties. I will not allow Ongwae to joke with funds meant for development in the county," he said.

The ageing senator urged Kisii residents to raise alarm whenever they notice the county government is misusing public resources so that appropriate legal action can be taken against the perpetrators.

"Corruption and other dubious dealings will derail development in Kisii. As a result, locals should not spare anyone stealing public funds. Individuals stealing funds must be reported to authorities for legal actions to be taken," he added.

The senator appealed to Kisii MCAs to stop prioritizing monthly salaries but, development disputing claims that he has been sleeping on his job since he was elected.

"Rivals should appreciate my work and not telling lies to the people of Kisii county," said the professor.
