President Uhuru Kenyatta will launch a new multi-million stadium in Kisii on August 12th during the Internal Youth Day.
Preparations ahead of the grand launch are underway with Governor James Ongwae and his deputy Joash Maangi touring the ultramodern Gusii stadium twice this week.
County minister in charge of sports Duke Mainga said the stadium will host KICOSCA games scheduled from 13th August.
"The stadium is 90 per cent complete and the president will be launching it. It will host county games a day after the launch.
"We are intending to expand it by increasing sitting capacity so that we can meet intenational standards," he said.
On Thursday, Ongwae said the stadium will host former football giants Shabana FC for one year without payments.
When fully completed, the stadium will be the first in Nyanza to meet international standards and the second in Western Kenya after Bukhungu in Kakamega.
