A 22-year-old college student on August 30, 2016 committed suicide by hanging himself at Kibauni Location in Mwala, Machakos County.
Neither the family nor government officials could immediately identify what made the student take his life.
According to area Chief Sebastian Ngungi, the deceased who was a student at a college in Nairobi, had been battling with epilepsy for a long time.
Ngugi said the man had been spotted around Kathiani Market which is located in Kibauni Location on Monday night few hours before he committed suicide.
The deceased went missing thereafter, only for his body to be found hanging on a tree only a few metres from his home on Tuesday morning.
“Today I received a call that there was a body of a young man hanging on a tree. When we checked, we saw that it was the body of a young man who had been reported missing on Monday night. The young man has been in college in Nairobi and had been epileptic for a long time. Investigations are underway to determine what made him commit suicide," Ngugi said.
The body was removed to Machakos Level Five Hospital's mortuary by officers from kibauni Police Station.
