The body of a boda boda rider was on Tuesday found meters away from the home of Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi's home.
A knife believed to have been used in the murder of the victim was also found next to the body.
The body was discovered by fishermen heading back home at around 6 am.
Reports indicate that the rider might have been killed by a passenger he ferried from Kibaoni stage at around 11 pm on Monday night.
The rider only identified as Gift also lost his motorcycle.
The fishermen immediately informed village elder Khamis Juma who reached out to the area chief.
"We have witnessed several incidences of insecurity in this area because it is very dark during the night. Street lights will help," said Juma.
Kilifi Police Boss Patrick Njoroge confirmed the incident stating that investigations had already been launched into the matter.
"The rider had several cuts from a sharp object. We have scanty information but we are liaising with the company which installed a tracking device on the motorcycle. We hope to make arrests soon," he disclosed.
