The Government has disowned Starehe Member of Parliament Charles Njagua alias Jaguar's statement on the deportation of foreigners conducting business activities in the country.
The lawmaker had said that he would personally take action against Chinese and other nationals owning businesses in different parts of the country, including Gikomba market.
The Government Spokesman Cyrus Oguna has, however, said that the lawmaker’s statement doesn’t represent the stand of the Government of Kenya, under the leadership of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“We wish to state that this is not the position of the Government of the Republic of Kenya, and we denounce the comments carried in the video in the strongest terms possible,” read the statement, as quoted by Citizen Digital.
Oguna condemned Jaguar's remarks, and assured foreigners investors conducting business activities in the country of their security and that of their properties.
“Such comments are unfortunate and have no place in today’s globalized environment. Kenyans are peace loving people who have over the years coexisted with others of different nationalities," he added.
According to Jaguar, residents of different areas in country were not reaping from the fruits of devolution, because the Chinese and other foreigners have found invaded local markets.
He noted that the foreigners had locked Kenyans out of many opportunities, and asked the government to put in place stringent measures to ensure that Kenyans benefit from their resources.
