A middle-aged man was on Wednesday sentenced to four years imprisonment by Mavoko Law Courts after he was found guilty of theft.
The accused John Kyalo was charged with stealing property worth Sh150,000 belonging to Apostolic Church, Sabaki in Mavoko Sub county.
The accused who had appeared before Senior Principal Magistrate Linus Kassan pleaded guilty to stealing six chairs, 3 pairs of curtains, a shovel and knife from the church.
The prosecution told the court that the accused committed the act on 27th July 2018.
Worshipers found the church broken into and the said items missing from it on the morning of July 28, 2018.
The accused was arrested in his house where he was found in possession of the items after the incident was reported at Mlolongo Police station.
He is said to have cut the iron sheet near the church's door to gain access before stealing the items.
Kyalo is said to have waited for the church's project manager, Philip Maina, to leave before he made his move.
Maina who gave his account told the court to jail the accused since the church had been robbed six times.
In mitigation, the accused pleaded for leniency promising to mend his ways.
The court ruled that he be jailed for four years.
Kyalo was issued fourteen days to appeal the court's ruling.
