Moi University Students' Union (MUSO) chairman Isaac Choge on Friday resigned from his position.
Choge in a post on his Facebook account said he had officially tendered his resignation letter to the university's Vice Chancellor Prof. Isaac Kosgey.
Here are the three reasons that led to his decision;
University Amendment Act 2016
According to Choge, the change of the students' leadership structure and the election process signed into law by President Uhuru Kenyatta on December 16, 2016, was the main reason for had quit his post.
Limited leadership capabilities
In the resignation letter seen by hivisasa.com, the students' leader stated that his leadership capabilities had drastically been limited as a result of the amendment to the Act. He also said he had failed to understand the role of each congress role, which according to the changes, only elected delegates from different electoral colleges will represent the other students in the election.
Touch with comrades
Choge who was the 31st MUSO chairman said he felt he has no strong touch with fellow comrades following the changes to the laws compared to his predecessors that had a complete connection with comrades.
Though he has made a decision to resign, Choge called upon students across universities in the country to stand up and get the voice to the constitution that he says continues to degrade the spirit of comradeship.
