ODM leader Raila Odinga's point man in Muranga county Kamau Mweha has mocked area leaders promising Deputy President William Ruto the Central Kenya votes.
This follows several assurances by a number of area leaders allied to the DP that he should count on the region's vote in his 2022 presidential bid.
Mweha has however dismissed the leaders terming them as persons who are only out to impress the DP for personal gains.
He noted that the said Mt Kenya leaders allied to the DP stand for nothing and are only with him due to lack of anything else to do.
"They are political novices who have no agenda but to follow Dr Ruto for selfish gains," Mweha was quoted by Nation on Friday.
He said that the region is currently waiting for the promised joint tour of President Uhuru Kenyatta and the ODM leader which was set to begin earlier this month.
“Their plot is doomed and won’t see the light of the day; wait until the President and Mr Odinga tour the region,” he added.
The tour which was part of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) founded between the two after their March 9, 2018 ceasefire has since been postponed for unclear reasons.
Area leaders who have claimed that the region will stand with Ruto include Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu, Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungwah and his Kiharu counterpart Ndindi Nyoro.
