Maalim claims that Chebukati and the commissioners lack integrity and competence to continue staying at the commission.

In an opinion piece published in one of the local dailies on Friday last week, Maalim proposed a total overhaul and restructuring of the IEBC before the much-awaited 2022 general election.

He argues that the commission lost credibility in the 2017 general election and Chebukati has no business staying on.

“They (Chebukati and commissioners)  completely have no integrity to show. Let us get rid of all of them and put new people in those offices,” Maalim wrote in the opinion piece.

The former National Assembly Deputy speaker claimed that Chebukati and the two commissioners cannot run the polls agency.

Maalim insisted that IEBC needs urgent constitutional reforms and restore its credibility ahead of the 2022 polls.

The former Lagdera legislator also proposed that foreigners be picked to manage the electoral agency.

He said that with foreigners management, Kenyans will have confidence in the electoral agency.
