A dream wedding is a wish for almost every young person willing to get married.
Most men will try and look for enough cash to make their wedding look great just to please their partners or even themselves.
However, the new study seems to discourage the thought and instead encourages couples to reduce their spending on weddings.
Economic professors Andrew Francis-Tan and Hugo Mialon analysed 3000 married people, only to find some characteristics that increase the chances of divorce.
In their findings, the amount of cash that couples spend on their wedding has an effect on the duration of their marriage.
“Specifically, in the sample of men, spending between $2,000 and $4,000 on an engagement ring is associated with 1.3 times greater hazard of divorce as compared to spending between $500 and $2,000,” the study read as quoted by the Independent.
Similarly, a wedding ceremony that costs $1,000 and below leads to a decrease in divorce with weddings that costs more than $20,000 increasing chances of divorce.
Therefore, instead of splashing a lot of cash on the wedding, couples should save money for post-wedding vacations such as honeymoon which is directly connected to lower chances of divorce.
