Master Onkendi's plight was highlighted by social media users across Kisii and Nyamira before Radio Maisha got hold of him .

And Kisii County Youth Minister Duke Mainga was shocked after the 10-year-old boy questioned him why he had snubbed beggars without 'parting' with something small.

With Onkendi parting Sh100 to one of the beggars, the minister had no choice other than to toe to the line.

"So after lunch, together with his caretakers Brian Onduso and Ondanya we proceeded down to purchase the prescribed drugs in a chemist next to the county treasury building. As we walked down, we happened to walk past a beggar right outside the county treasury gate.

"The young boy Onkendi told me this: “mheshimiwa, hukupea yule mtu pesa!” For a second, I lost my breath then responded: “tuende tununue dawa, halafu turudi tumsort” of course hii ilikuwa ni kujitetea tu. So we went, bought the drugs and came back. I gave John some 200bucks and he decided to donate 100 bob," wrote Mr. Mainga on his Facebook page.

The minister had taken the young boy for medical assessment after it had emerged that he was mentally retarded.

At Nairobi two weeks ago, Radio Maisha fans donated over Sh600,000 which would be used for education of talented boy whose ambition is to become a radio commentator.

In one of his episodes, the young boy can make all first team players in top EPL teams, a rare knowledge for even those older than him.
