Police in Elburgon area in Nakuru County are holding a 15-year-old boy accused of hacking his mother with a machete.
The incident reportedly emanated from an argument after the mother questioned why the boy who recently joined form one has refused to go to school.
The mother added that the boy who only attended school in the first month has been idling at home and struck her with the panga on the head when she demanded an explanation.
“He only attended classes in January and has since been idling around home. I have provided him with everything but he has refused to continue with his studies,” she told the Standard.
The incident was confirmed by area chief Bethwel Kibe, who added that the police have launched a probe into the matter.
The mother said that things worsened when he denied his son permission to go and watch television in the neighborhood.
He went to the kitchen and returned brandishing the weapon, she narrated.
“He later asked that he goes to our neighbour’s house to watch television but I denied him permission since he had angered me. He then went to the kitchen and picked a machete and club," she added.
The mother was rushed to Nyayo hospital in Elburgon where she is recuperating.
