The 24-year-old communication student at Kisii University, Eldoret campus is currently out of campus due to lack of fees.

His parents gave him Sh54,000 to pay his fees late last year but Amon decided to spend the money on his girlfriend.

“I took her to a hotel in Nakuru and we spent two weeks there having fun. I thought I would get money later and pay the fees myself the following semester," said Amon.

He revealed that he was negatively influenced by his two friends who were also fond of obtaining money falsely from their parents and skipping classes.

“I regret and I am now stressed. I don’t know how I will catch up with my colleagues who are now two semesters ahead of me. My parents are not yet aware and I don’t know how I can tell them that I squandered the school fees," he said.

“I feel ashamed because I do not see anything I achieved out of that. In fact, my girlfriend started avoiding me immediately she realised that the money was over," he added.

Amon is now advising college and university students who are fond of squandering their fees to learn from his mistake and avoid such behaviour and concentrate on their studies.
