An MP allied to the opposition Amani National Congress (ANC) party has claimed Parliament Minority Leader John Mbadi has no good intention for the opposition National Super Alliance (NASA) and its supporters.
Lugari MP Ayub Savula on Monday made the claims following the Suba South MP's inability to reign in on MPs who quashed a report that said there was no mercury-laced sugar in the country.
Savula said he will now rally his colleagues from the sugar belt region to move a motion to throw out Mbadi from his seat as Parliament Minority Leader.
The MP said Mbadi should have been among MPs pushing for the passage of the report since he comes from Nyanza, a region where millions of sugarcane farmers are suffering due to the importation of illicit sugar into the country.
"My next move is to institute a motion and question his role in the shooting down of the report," Savula who comes from Western, a region that grows sugarcane told a leading local daily.
"We will remove him from his post as Parliament Minority Leader."
MPs from the sugar belt region on Monday linked Mbadi to the shooting down of the contraband sugar report claiming that the MP works closely with sugar cartels adding that he was a "mole" within the opposition.
Mbadi has so far denied the claims calling on the MPs to prove their allegations.
