A man from Nakuru has been jailed for 25 years after he was found guilty of defiling and infecting a minor with a sexually transmitted disease.
Rodgers Wafula Saudi is said to have sexually molested a 13-year-old girl on October 10, 2016.
Medical examination she was indeed sexually assaulted and infected with an STI.
The verdict was made by Nakuru court principal Magistrate Benard Muraro.
In his judgement, the magistrate said the evidence produced in court by prosecution witnesses was sufficient and had proved beyond reasonable doubt that the accused committed the heinous crime.
On giving the verdict as reported by the nation, the Magistrate said, “I am of the considered view that the evidence from the prosecution witnesses proved that the complainant was a minor and that she was infected with STDs. The accused is hereby convicted to 25 years imprisonment,” ruled Mararo.
According to eyewitnesses, the convicted man lured the minor into a maize plantation while on her way from school.
He sexually molested the girl and warned her not to say a word to her parents or anyone.
The accused further threatened to kill the minor in case she told the parents or reported the matter to the authority.
