President Uhuru Kenyatta paid National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi to 'rig' in favor of his new fuel tax proposals on petroleum products, Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati has said.

Arati said Muturi could not side with the MPs who were opposing Uhuru's tax proposals since he had pocketed money.

"Several MPs from Jubilee and opposition opposed the 8 per cent VAT on fuel tax but, Muturi rigged in favor of Uhuru because we all know how money exchanges hands when it comes to elections. The Head of State was paid to frustrate the MPs," he said.

Arati said the impeachment of Muturi should not take wrong because if Muturi continues to serve as the Speaker, the lawmakers will find it hard to legislate their duties.

"Common citizens will continue suffering if Muturi can't be impeached. Muturi misbehaved during the last week's Thursday special sitting," he noted.

The legislator regretted that Kenyans are subjected to huge taxes at the expense of repaying the loans which Uhuru's administration has been borrowing carelessly.

He said corruption will still go on in this country because President Uhuru Kenyatta is not ready to end the menace.
