The DP has since maintained that his presidential bid for the 2022 general elections is still on course and will not be halted by whatever is thrown on his way by his critics.

However, the commentator is of the opinion that Ruto could have since dropped his bid, thanks to the pressure emanating from the handshake.

The handshake team consists of President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition boss Raila Odinga who Manyora says, Ruto must have realise he cannot beat come 2022.

Consequently, he said, the DP is out to trouble the two with an intention of forcing them to the negotiation table, which would see him achieve something at the end of it.

"Ruto could have known from the word go that he was not going to beat this team, but has decided to be stubborn and though the nuisance value, because of his capacity and qualities, forces the handshake team to call him and give him something he couldn't have gotten," he said.

The commentator was speaking on his YouTube channel 'Take It or Leave It',  on Saturday.

He said that having been in the political scene for long now, the DP must have looked back and opted for this as his only remaining option if he is to remain relevant.

The analyst noted that it has been done severally before, most of the users of the tact ending up achieving something at the end of the elections.

"He could have realised that he can't fight the handshake, but chose to do what some people do in Kenyan politics where you threaten that you are standing, or even stand, knowing that you don't stand a chance, but strategically hoping that you will be noticed and gain," he added.

Some of the people he said have gained using the same tact include Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, ANC boss Musalia Mudavadi and Moody Awori, all of whom ended up being Vice Presidents.
